Our third event on the Horseshoe Tour is the Gaston County Clash in Lowell, North Carolina. This is our fourth consecutive year at this site, the date of the tournament is June 24-45th, deadline for entries is June 14th. This will be a double point site. The Hampton Inn in Gastonia, NC will again be the host hotel for the event, horseshoe rate $119, same as last year.

The Tommy Wahl Open Horseshoe Tour Event is our second tournament of the 2023 season, and our first there since 2018. The date for this tour event is May 20-21 and the deadline for the entry fee is May 10th.

Don’t miss the potluck dinner at Civitan Park, under the shelter at the horseshoe courts starting at 5:00PM.

The host hotel for the event is the Sleep Inn, $89 for a king room, $114 for a double queen room. Only 20 rooms available, cutoff for the room block is May 12th. Contact number is 931-919-2440 or 931-919-2446. The name of the room block is “National Horseshoe Competition”

The 2023 Sue Snyder Memorial SummerFun horseshoe tournament in Newberry, SC is scheduled for the weekend of April 22-23. This year’s event will be sponsored by the City of Newberry, and the deadline for entries is April 12th.

The SummerFun room block for Opera House Hampton Inn, if you plan on staying there, is open, but only 25 rooms available downtown on a first come, first serve basis. The rate is $114 per night for regular rooms, ask for the SummerFun2023 rate. The cut off date for this rate is April 6th. Number of the hotel is 803-276-6666.

The Horseshoe Tour Hall of Fame ceremony and reception will be held on Friday evening at the Firehouse Conference Room from 5:00-6:30 PM, adjacent to the Newberry Opera House. All players, family, and friends are invited to attend, drinks and light refreshments will be served. Congratulations to Maxine Griffith, from Tennessee, who will be inducted based on her achievement points she earned throughout the years.

The “Pork in the Park” festival in Newberry, SC is the same weekend as the Horseshoe Tour tournament. There will be BBQ food, and beverages, also live band music going on Friday evening until 8:00 PM, and Saturday all day. The activities will be downtown in the city park area, just across from the Hampton Inn.
