The 2022 Sue Snyder Memorial SummerFun horseshoe tournament in Newberry, SC is scheduled for the weekend of April 23-24. This year’s event will be sponsored by the City of Newberry, and White Distributor, and the deadline for entries is April 13th. The SummerFun room block for Newberry, if you plan on staying there, is open, but only 25 rooms available downtown at the Hampton Inn on a first come, first serve basis. The rate is $114 per night for regular rooms, only 25 rooms available ask for the SummerFun rate. The cut off date for this rate is April 6th. Number of the hotel is 803-276-6666. The Horseshoe Tour Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Friday night at the Firehouse Conference Room at 6:30 PM, adjacent to the Newberry Opera House. We are very sorry to announce that the 2021 Cajun Coast Classic Horseshoe Tour event scheduled for October 9-10 has been cancelled. Power restoration and rebuilding efforts continue slowly following two major hurricane type storm hits so far this season and are being further hampered by more storms right now. Currently, hotels in places like Morgan City are completely packed with displaced local residents and emergency workers. This is creating room shortages all over the state and beyond. It is obvious that this situation will carry into the time that our event is scheduled for and probably far past those dates, meaning that there will be no place for any of our staff or travelling players to stay on those dates, as displaced residents can’t be forced from their rooms. Our reservations will be cancelled instead, as they should be. So, knowing this, our only alternative is to cancel the tournament, bringing on an early end to the 2021 Horseshoe Tour season. If you’ve already entered this tournament, you can either move your entry fee forward to a future tournament or receive a full refund… the choice is yours.

We appreciate the continued support of all our players since restarting the tour in these uncertain times and we’re very sorry to have to cut this season short by one tournament. In the beginning, we had no idea how much of this season we’d complete, so finishing four out of five isn’t all that bad. We’re looking forward to a great 2022 season and are already working on that schedule now, shuffling things around so that we hopefully don’t run into the same problems next time.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, all entries must be filled out and signed, along with the entry fee, and must be postmarked by September 1st. Nebraska players can either mail entries to PO Box 1542, Clover, SC 29710, or get them to Rex Robison before the deadline.

Play North Platte Rail Yard Ringer Information

Our next event, the “Rail Yard Ringer”, is in North Platte, Nebraska on September 11-12. The deadline for entries is September 1st. There are two host hotels for the weekend, both great places to stay, with great horseshoe rates. These rates are good through the end of August, so make your reservations early!

The Best Western Plus hotel will host a casual reception for players on Friday evening between 7:00 and 8:30 PM prior to the event. We invite all players and family to attend. We expect to have some former, and current World Champions there!

Our next event on the Horseshoe Tour is the Gaston County Clash in Lowell, North Carolina. This is our second consecutive year at this site, the date of the tournament is June 26-27th, deadline for entries is June 16th. This is a double point site, and no Open Division will be offered at this location. The Hampton Inn in Gastonia, NC will be the host hotel for the event, horseshoe rate $109. If you have already booked at the regular rate, it will be adjusted to the book rate.

The room block for the Hampton Inn in Gastonia is full, no more rooms are available at a discounted rate.
