Because of the circumstances of weather in Newberry, we have decided that we will refund $50 each for players in the Prime Divisions, that decide not to attend. This is the amount paid for last place in the tournament. This would be ONLY if you contact Ron Taylor by 4:00 Friday, by phone, email, messenger, or text, so we can readjust the setup. This is not our normal procedure, and only because of the threat of rain and storms this weekend. The tournament will be played, but the consensus now is to play a 4 game qualifying round (120 shoes), to avoid the delays that are sure to happen.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Newberry will also host the “Pork in the Park” Festival on Saturday, the same weekend of the SummerFun Tour event. The activities are located in the square, across from the Hampton Inn, if you like bar-b-q, you will love this. The Pork in the Park event will not only be Saturday this year, it will be Friday night also with a bluegrass band and BBQ for sale from 5pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n
The room block for the host hotel in Newberry has been set, and once again, because of the festival that weekend, we only have 20 rooms available first come, first serve. When you call, ask for the “SummerFun” rate, rooms are $114 per night. The direct number to the hotel is 803-276-6666. The Hampton Inn is located in the center of town, adjacent to the Opera House, and the Pork in the Park festivities. Only about a mile from the courts. The final day to reserve a room is March 27th, check in time is 3:00 PM.<\/p>\n
The hotdog eating contest is back on again this year during the Newberry, SC Horseshoe Tour event!! It will be on Friday evening at 6:30 PM, at the Martin Street Beer Parlor (Bubba’s) There’s a new wrinkle this year though, it’s two person teams that will compete. We will take the first 12 people who contact us, and we will draw for partners on site before we start. We will post the names as soon as we are full. If you don’t enter, just come on out and have some fun watching, and cheering on the contestants.
