Cajun Coast Classic Horseshoe Tour Tournament in Morgan City, LA, Dates October 10-11 (this upcoming weekend) Update:
BREAKING NEWS! THIS TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.
It is clear that this tropical storm named Delta, soon to be hurricane Delta, is going to severely impact play of this tournament this weekend in Morgan City, LA. At best, it is almost certainly going to wash out Saturday pitching entirely, leaving us with only Sunday to work with and most likely, not the whole day… and that’s the best we can expect. The worst is unthinkable! The Morgan City area is actually looking at possible evacuation plans, so that should tell you how serious this storm is. It’s the real deal and we have no choice but to cancel this event.
We wanted to give you all as much notice as possible, as we know many of you will be leaving to get there in the next day or so. There will soon be a more official announcement of this here, telling you this same thing and how entry fees will be refunded, etc. But I figured since we just made the call that we should tell you ASAP. I’m really sorry to break this news. We were all looking forward to this trip and to seeing everyone; most of you for the first ime in a long time. But trust me, this was the right call.
Bobby White, Tour President
PS, please share this with anyone you think may be attending this tournament… and thank you for your helpin spreading the word!
We are excited about the final (and only) Horseshoe Tour event of the year in Morgan City/Patterson, Louisiana. Due to the limited number of rooms available in the area because of the recent hurricane, this year’s host hotel will be the Clarion Inn in Morgan City. The hotel is attached to the Morgan Restaurant, where a lot of us have visited on Sunday afternoons after the tournament to eat. We will only have 20 rooms blocked, and the block will be released back to normal rates 10 days before the event, which will be our deadline on September 30th. The room rates will be $86.99 plus tax. A block will be set up soon, call directly 985-384-5537, make sure you ask for the Cajun Coast horseshoe tournament. Also, unfortunately, because of state, and park covid restrictions, there will be no food available at the site this year during the event as of now, so players are encouraged to bring their own food and snacks. Water, and other sealed drinks will be available. The club 50/50 raffle will take place. The good news is, we’re pitching horseshoes!
below is the booking link to the Clarion.

**Unfortunately, there will be no banquet this year because of indoor requirements of crowds.
As we all are in a very unique situation this year with the Covid 19 virus, the City of Morgan City, Paterson’s Kemper Williams Park, and the Horseshoe Tour are committed to moving forward with the Cajun Coast Classic horseshoe tournament for 2020. However, this event may look a little different from previous years, because we all have to take some precautions to satisfy all invested parties. We realize that this is different from our regular tournaments, and we apologize for the inconvenience this year, but hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
Below is a list of ideas, some unfortunate, to ensure the safety and well being of our players and their families while they are in town for the event.
1. Avoid shaking hands, hugging, or close contact.
2. Maintain a social distance of 6’ or better.
3. Wearing a mask is recommended, not required.
4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided (masks, gloves, hand sanitizer)
5. The CVB has recommended bringing you own chair for distancing.
Some player announcements at/during the event:
1. No group pictures will be taken during the tournament.
2. A brief player meeting will be held while players are on the courts, prior to play.
3. No congregating around the entrance/exit of the courts.
4. Players are asked to record their scores on the round robin sheet themselves (pencils provided)
5. Players will pick up their shoes individually when pitched.
Camping available on site:
Kemper Williams RV Park
30 & 50 amp hookups with sewer and water on hard surface Dump stations
160 rally RV Campsites adjacent to Civic Center

There’s no sugar coating this… it’s more bad news…
When organizing a Horseshoe Tour Tournament, at the 30-day point prior to the tournament we always strive to have everything in place so that we could theoretically run the tournament right then. Typically, the only thing we are missing from there on is all the player entries. Everything else is ready to go. Well, we are almost to that point in time right now with our 2020 Lowell, NC tournament and we have nothing but unknowns.
North Carolina just started Phase One of their recovery plan which does not allow public gatherings of more than ten people. Their six feet social distancing orders are still in place and face masks are still part of the picture in close public situations. All restaurants are currently closed for dining. Plus, there are many other restrictions still in place. We could never run a tournament under these current conditions, nor would we ever even try. The earliest any of this could change is May 22. But even if the state actually reaches Phase Two by tournament time, it will still include some form of social distancing, masks in close contact situations, group size restrictions, and heavily restricted restaurant dining options.
So, even Phase Two is extremely challenging for us and we have no idea if North Carolina will even be there by then. Not only that, but long-distance travel is still very risky for our players and many of your home states still have travel bans in place or self-quarantine orders upon return from travel which are likely to extend well into June. By this point, we were hoping to see many June sanctioned horseshoe tournaments being planned, but instead it’s the opposite. So, with things as they are, we feel we have no choice but to cancel the Lowell, NC Horseshoe Tour Tournament originally scheduled for June 20-21.
Beyond that, I’m sorry to report that it’s been decided by the Winnemucca, NV site to cancel the August 2020 Horseshoe Tour tournament there as well. So, that leaves us with just one tournament left on the 2020 schedule… Morgan City, LA in mid-October. We have no intentions of cancelling that tournament and right now, we are focusing all our efforts on having the best possible event we can have there in October. Morgan City is always one of the highlights of the season for us anyways and we sure hope you can all join us there in October. We’re going to do everything we can to make it one of our most amazing tournaments ever!
